FAQs

Why should I hire a coach?
If you are having difficulty naming and claiming your goals, finding direction and motivation, then a coach can be an investment in your life and your work. Career and executive coaches will inspire and assist you in reaching your next level of satisfaction as well as performance. Specifically, guidance from a career coach will provide:

  • Action: go from thinking and talking to taking measurable steps
  • Expertise: testing and feedback for making decisions and taking action
  • Relationship: a sounding board, support, constructive and honest dialogue
  • Tools: help yourself with exercises, research, career information
  • Lifelong knowledge: never again wonder how to navigate career change
  • Accountability: commit to a specific process and dedicated timeline
  • Perspective: objectivity and wide-angle lens, fresh and current ideas
  • Encouragement and hope: someone who believes in you and wants you to succeed

What if I don’t know how much help I will need or want?
The initial phone consultation should provide enough data and history for your coach to help you choose the best Masterpiece program and service format. Flexible and intermittent services can be arranged using the Touch & Go single visits or by customizing the most useful elements of the Masterpiece model.

How often are the Masterpiece consultations scheduled?
Like the program itself, the timing and length of phone consults are arranged with your goals and timeline, as well as personal and work schedule, in mind. Usually, clients complete “homework” between phone meetings, which are scheduled 2 to 3 weeks apart. Some clients prefer monthly meetings, allowing the program to stretch across an entire year.

If I have already completed testing and surveys in the past can I jump directly into identifying my goals and action steps?
Your coach will want to do at least an initial intake assessment and even perhaps review the results of prior tests if you have them. This data will improve the quality of your coaching experience and allow you to move directly into the exploration, problem solving or planning stages.

After my 15 minute initial consultation how will the program get started?
You and your coach will determine initial goals and steps and agree on a schedule of contact, either phone or email or both. You will then receive through email an electronic Registration Form, Payment Schedule, Letter of Agreement and Confidentiality, and beginning Calendar of Contact. The Calendar can be changed if necessary. You will also receive a link to the Gallery of Resources, with specific items to complete for your first consultation.

How does the Payment Schedule work?
The 4 and 8 session programs require 50% payment prior to the first phone consult after Transitionwork.com has received your Registration and Letter of Agreement forms. The 50% balance is due midway through your program.

Single consultations may be paid within the week they occur.

Electronic payment is coming soon. Until then, personal checks will be accepted through snail mail.

What if my needs or goals change during the coaching process?
By its very nature, coaching is both a fluid and structured process. You will begin with a plan to reach estimated goals based on you initial needs and expectations, but should also anticipate that these will change as you gain insight and make adjustments in your objectives and action steps. Transitionwork.com insures flexibility as well as planfulness.
